International Activist John Prendergast In-residence at Kean University's Human Rights Institute Dec. 1-3

UNION, N.J. — Acclaimed international human rights advocate and best-selling author John Prendergast, will once again lend his expertise in human rights advocacy to help expand the work of Kean's Human Rights Institute from Dec. 1-3, 2015. Through a series of free campus lectures, workshops and discussions, Prendergast will explore the many ways that students across all disciplines can contribute to the worldwide peace efforts.
"We are excited to bring John Prendergast, Kean's Anne Evans Estabrook Human Rights Senior Fellow, back to campus to inspire more students to do what they can to advocate and act to improve the world's most deplorable human rights situations," said Elizabeth Turchi, director of the Institute. "His ongoing work in Africa and with the Enough Project is a testament to the power and importance of engaging every student in human rights work."
AH Fire Department Responds to Thanksgiving Eve Chimney Fire

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS. NJ - The Atlantic Highlands volunteer fire department responded to a chimney fire at 108 East Washington Ave on Thanksgiving Eve, November 25th at approximately 7pm.
The fire was quickly extinguished by the fire department under the direction of Deputy Chief Patrick McGraner.
No injuries were reported, but the building did sustain substantial damage. In the spirit of the season, the occupants were able to relocate with other family members in town temporarily.

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - “Come Ye Thankful People Come” is a well-known Thanksgiving Christian song. It celebrates the gathering of Christians in a service of thanksgiving. The simple message is that we are a thankful people and we will come together as the community of faith.
This community of faith that is made up of All Saints Memorial Church, Calvary Chapel, Central Baptist Church, St. Paul Baptist Church, Kings Highway Faith Fellowship, The United Methodist Churches of Atlantic Highlands and Navesink, Living Word Christian Church, New Life Christian Church, Quinn Chapel AME, First Presbyterian Church, and St. Agnes, is coming together this Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM at the United Methodist Church of Atlantic Highlands, located at the corner of Third Avenue and East Garfield. Many people will travel, so they will not be here in the community but so many others will be here. Those who are in town are graciously invited to come and celebrate God’s bountifulness and give thanks unto Him.
