MIDDLETOWN, NJ - At 1:45 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to assist Middletown Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (MEMS) to extricate an injured worker who fell into an under construction basement at 307 Middletown Lincroft Road in the Lincroft section of the Township.
Initial dispatch was increased to include the Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD) Special Services Unit. Upon arrival Third Assistant Chief John Waltz coordinated with MEMS and assessed the situation and developed the plan to remove the worker from the structure. Utilizing the Tower Ladder as a vertical anchor point, MTFD Special Service Unit rigging experts and firefighters worked to safely extricate the victim from the construction site hole. The victim was then treated and transported by Middletown EMS and transported to the hospital.
The assignment was completed under control by Third Assistant Chief John Waltz at 2:45 p.m. All units were cleared from the scene at 3:15 p.m.
Approximately 30 members from 3 companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to the call from Middletown, River Plaza and Lincroft Fire Companies. The MTFD Special Services Unit responded.
No firefighter injuries were reported while operating at the scene.
