TOY STORY 1 is in my all time top 5 animated movies and I will go to the ends of the earth to watch Buzz & Woody (Tim Allen & Tom Hanks). The innocence and simplicity of the story line tied with the brilliant supporting toy characters (Slink, T-Rex, Potato Heads and more) worked exquisitely.
Yes i have seen Toy Story 2, 3 and now 4 because I knew it would contain those same 2 lead actors and Randy Neuman timeless theme song which would keep pretty me much engaged to a certain extent. But mid movie naps for me @ kids movies are pretty common place and no exception here.
The reduced role of Buzz in Toy Story 4 and the reduced interplay between those 2 was a bummer. When together on screen with their spit fire lines & banter movie magie.
The opening scene of a “toy rescue” by the all the toys working as a team and in an ingenious way is quintessential TOY STORY. Team effort to save “one of their own” despite the risks combined with the clever use of Slink/Monkeys in a Barrel pieces and Bo Peep’s Shepherd’s is perfect.
Quietly, Bo Peep (Annie Potts) stole the movie with her strong, mature and loving role.
To quote my grandson, “It was alright” and I agree
